A cute little mushroom / toadstool keyring made from 100% wool and fairy magic. The wool used to craft these toadstools comes from Mango the sheep. Mango’s wool has been hand-dyed and then needle felted into little toadstools which are threaded through a length of strong waxed cotton twine and fastened to a keyring. They are lovely and lightweight keyrings, not heavy or clunky. Perfect for the Autumn and Halloween seasons they make sweet little gifts and practical keyrings for all mushroom, toadstool and fairy fans. Each sale supports my woolly flock and me. The cotton and the metal keyrings are sourced from small British suppliers on Etsy. I shear all our sheep myself with traditional blade shears and all the fleeces are processed by hand here at our home. Handmade in the truest sense!

Mango who grew the wool used to make these keyrings is an elderly Texel cross sheep who is very friendly and very greedy. I gave her a home when her last owner moved away and needed to rehome her pet sheep. I wasn’t sure what to do with Mango’s fleece, it is not the sort of fleece I am used to working with but I wanted to make use of her wool and help Mango help sustain the flock and I discovered that her fleece is absolutely perfect for needle felting! It makes fantastic solid needle felt – ideal for hanging decorations and bases for needle-felted animals.

A cute little grey mushroom keyring made from 100% wool that I have dyed and needle felted into the shape of a mushroom and then threaded through a length of strong waxed jute twine and fastened to a keyring. The grey wool used to make this mushroom comes from the last fleece of Sandy who sadly died in 2021. I feel it is a great honour to the sheep to be able to continue making beautiful crafts with their fleeces even after their death.

A set of 4 woollen mushrooms from Wales. Hand-crafted from sheep’s wool and a touch of magic! These felted mushroom decorations are perfect to brighten up your home in the Autumn and Christmas season. I love them as Christmas tree decorations but they look great on display at any time of year. The mushrooms are presented in a little gift box so they would make a special gift for mushroom and nature lovers. The wool used to create these magical mushrooms comes from Mango and Mint. The Autumnal colours were created by adding some of Mango’s white fleece to a bubbling pan of Madder roots! And then a sprinkling of magical acid dyes was added to create different variations of colour. Mango also grew the wool for the mushroom stems. Mint’s job was to provide the hairy white fluff for the little white spots on the mushrooms – the finishing touch!

A pair of autumnal mushrooms from Wales. Hand-crafted from sheep’s wool and a sprinkling of magic! These felted Autumn mushroom decorations are perfect to brighten up your home as the nights draw in. I think they look lovely as Christmas tree decorations and they especially look the part at Halloween! This cute pair of mushrooms are presented in a little gift box so they would make a fantastic gift for mushroom lovers and aspiring witches and wizards alike. The wool used to create these magical mushrooms comes from Mango and Mint. The Autumnal colours were created by adding some of Mango’s white fleece to a bubbling pan of Madder roots! And then a sprinkling of magical acid dyes were added to create different variations of colour. Mango also grew the wool for the mushroom stems. Mint’s job was to provide the hairy white fluff for the little white spots on the mushrooms – the finishing touch!

I love reading books and magical tales about witches and wizards as do my two children. I always find myself feeling very inspired in the Autumn to create magical decorations, mushrooms being one of my all-time favourite things to felt!

All my needle felted items are very solidly felted with carefully added details. They are crafted with a lot of love and care and not rushed so they take a surprising amount of time to make. That is not including the time spent shearing the sheep, washing the wool, carding, dyeing and spinning!

This listing is for the exact pair of mushrooms in the photos, the price is for the 2. They are presented in a simple card gift box – a perfect present for someone or perhaps for yourself!

The only part that is not wool from my flock is the jute twine that the mushrooms hang from.

Size – Small mushroom – Approx 6cm length and 4cm mushroom top diameter (with string 20cm total length)

Size – Red mushroom – Approx 6cm length and 5cm mushroom top diameter (with string 21cm total length)

Please note – This is NOT a toy. It has been created for display and decoration purposes only. It is made from small needle felted wool pieces and hairy textured wool and so could pose a hazard for babies or small children. Please do not give to children under 3 years old.

We keep a well-loved, high welfare flock of pet and rescue sheep on the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales. Our sheep are a part of the family and each is known by name. All our wool and makes are vegetarian-friendly as we do not breed or sell sheep for the meat market and our sheep live out their natural lives with us. I am a full-time mum and shepherdess. In my (none existent!) free time I make things from wool from the sheep in order to sustain them.
