Hand carded core wool batts, perfect for needle felting, from Xena the sheep!

Completely natural and undyed wool. Xena's fleece is fantastic to use as core wool for your needle felting - I can personally vouch for its brilliance and use it regularly for my needle felted animals! It needlefelts easily and creates a very hard solid base which you can then build your finer details on. Xena is a Texel cross Zwartbles sheep. Her wool is I would say medium-coarse, some parts are softer others more wierey with great texture. It also spins nice and easily so these would be good for a beginner to practice your spinning on.

Completely natural and undyed wool. Xena’s fleece is fantastic to use as core wool for your needle felting – I can personally vouch for its brilliance and use it regularly for my needle felted animals!

These batts have been run through the drum carder twice with a hand carder run across the top so they are pretty smooth.

Each batt weighs 92g or slightly over.

Due to the fact this has been lightly processed by hand, there may be some grass seeds and whisps of hay present though I have tried to remove any as I came across them whilst carding and Xena had a very clean fleece this year.

Although I haven’t tried it, I don’t think this wool would be any good for wet felting it just doesn’t feel like it would wet felt… too coarse and it doesn’t shrink much, hence why it makes great core wool for needle felting.

Our sheep are solely a fiber and pet flock and each sale directly sustains them throughout the year. I shear them all myself with traditional hand shears and all the fleeces are processed by hand here at our home.

If the postage doesn’t automatically combine I will refund the overcharges after checkout.

——————————————————-

A lot of time, care and love go into all my items they are all individually made one at a time by just 1 pair of hands – from caring for and shearing the sheep, washing the wool and crafting an item to the packaging and posting – handmade in the truest sense of the word.

———————————————————

We keep a well-loved, high welfare, colourful flock of sheep on the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales. Our sheep are a part of the family and each is known by name. All our wool and makes are vegetarian-friendly as we do not breed or sell sheep into the food chain and our sheep live out their natural lives with us. I am a full-time mum and slave to sheep! In my (none existent!) free time I make things from wool from the sheep in order to sustain them.

———————————————————
