🙈 When asked if i was interested in initially ‘1 maybe 2’ cade lambs I predictably replied ‘yes I’d be interested’ and naturally we came with 3! Meet Lilly (wearing the sleeve of my mums lamb’s wool & mohair jumper 😄) and the 2 boys yet to be officially named. Lilly has spent the last week living in the house – you can imagine the chaos in our house what with 2 noisy dogs, 2 even noisier children and a lamb at large!
Lilly was very lethargic when we brought her home last Saturday and shivering in the barn so we kitted her out with a nice jumper and upgraded her accomodation. The first few days she struggled to stand and walk, was very dull and depressed and her breathing and heart rate were all over the place. Initially the vets perscribed her anitibiotics and anti-inflammatories for pneumonia. When she didn’t improve very much I took her back and they re-examined her and discovered she has a hole in her heart. Very sadly there is nothing they can do to help her and I was told she would probably have a short life, be smaller than the other lambs and quite possibly we would just find her dead one day or end up having her put to sleep at a later date. . I was give 2 options, to have her put to sleep now or take her home and just see. So here she is back home and getting a bit stronger with each day. She is smaller and not as active as the 2 boys but she plays and really enjoys her milk so fingers crossed she has a longer life than expected. ☺️ If you were wondering what breed these lambs are.. Lilly is a Blue Face Leicester and the boys are that crossed with Wensleydale (they are HUGE)
