Zebra Needle Felt Wool Decoration ‘Humbug’ – Handcrafted in Wales

£28.00

Meet Humbug the dinky little wool zebra.

Humbug may be small but he is incredibly sweet and highly detailed. He is handmade entirely from sheep wool that is felted to the point it becomes solid and hard. His dangly little legs are made from handspun wool yarn as is his mane and tail. He hangs from a length of natural jute twine. Humbug would make a very special gift and is perfect to decorate the home of any zebra fan! This is not a children’s toy please bear that in mind.

Size: Humbug – he is dinky but mightly detailed! Approx 10cm nose to bum in length. 9cm high from base of the leg to the ear tip.

The process: Humbug the zebra is made with a process called needle felting – the wool is shaped and sculptured and repeatedly stabbed with a special barbed needle causing it to felt and become very hard. Sometimes wire is wrapped with the wool to make the finished item poseable – but not in this case. Stripes’s body is made with just wool from a sheep called Mango and the dark brown stripes are Blossom’s wool.

All my needle-felted items are very solidly felted with carefully added details. They are crafted with a lot of love and care. They are not rushed so they take a surprising amount of time to make not including the time spent shearing the sheep, washing the wool, carding, dyeing or spinning the little legs! This is a completely handmade product every wool element has been created by my hands and the flock at our farm in Wales – the sale of this item directly sustains the sheep it pays for their feed and upkeep of the land enabling the flock to live long happy lives here munching away growing wonderful wool.

Please noteThis is NOT a children’s toy. It has been created for display and decoration purposes only. Do NOT give to babies and small children. It is has been carefully made and designed to be hung and admired and will not withstand rough play.

If you have any questions or queries at all please send me a message I will be happy to help.

You can meet the sheep who grow the wool here.

We keep a well-loved, high welfare flock of pet and rescue sheep on the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales. Our sheep are a part of the family and each is known by name. All our wool and makes are vegetarian-friendly as we do not breed or sell sheep for the meat market and our sheep live out their natural lives with us. I am a full-time mum and shepherdess. In my (none existent!) free time I make things from wool from the sheep in order to sustain them.
