Peg Loom Natural Wool Rug ‘Torddu’ – Handmade in Wales

£38.00

This pretty little peg loom rug has been made using fleece from a local flock of Torddu Welsh Mountain sheep. I bought the fleeces from a local farmer to save them from becoming compost. In 2020 I was asked to make a specific sized rug to order for a very small bedroom in a local holiday home. The rug was to be light beige/tan in colour and so these Torddu fleeces were chosen to weave the rug as they were the perfect light natural colour and so this rug was born. However, the story doesn’t end there as the person whom I made the rug never came back to collect it, so I am offering it for sale at a slightly reduced price in the hopes it can now finally find a forever home. It is a smaller size than I would usually make due to the fact it was made specifically to order but I am certain it will be the perfect bedside rug or even bathroom rug for someone out there 🙂

It was hard do justice to this rug in the photos and to capture the colour of the wool accurately but the photos of the rug on the wooden floor do show the colour most true.

This item was handwoven on my peg loom, it is made from natural local Torddu wool and the warp I used is natural jute twine.

Dimensions: Approx length is 65cm and width is 45-46cm

Wool texture: The feel of this fleece is medium-coarse Torddu wool.

Colour: Very pretty light cream, beige and tan tones.

VM(aka hay/grass seeds etc): You may find the odd wisp of hay or grass seed within the fleece but they are very few and only add to the naturalness of this handmade piece.

If you have any questions or queries at all please send me a message I will be happy to help.

This listing is for 1 seat cover the same one as in the photos. Please note in some photos it is pictured with a small rug, this is not included in the price but is available to buy on a separate listing.

We keep a well-loved, high welfare, colourful flock of sheep on the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales. Our sheep are a part of the family and each is known by name. All our wool and makes are vegetarian-friendly as we do not breed or sell sheep into the food chain and our sheep live out their natural lives with us. I am a fulltime mum and slave to sheep! In my (none existent!) free time I make things from wool from the sheep in order to sustain them.
